International Day of Women and Girls in Science

February 11, 2025

Project: iMERMAID
Impact

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated annually on February 11th.

We took this as an occasion and went for a little walk at the Schwarzlsee with Marcela.

In this short video, she tells us her path in science and how she expierences working as a woman in science. The Schwarzlsee was the perfect location as Marcela is our project manager active in iMERMAID. This project is all about Safeguarding the Mediterranean Sea from contaminants of emerging concerns (CoEC).

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls. It is the goal to recognize their contribution, address gender disparities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and encourage more young women to pursue careers in these fields.

Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts about Women and Girls in Science with us!
